SUMMARY:Guelph Organic Conference: 3 hour Workshop on Perennial Vegetables
DESCRIPTION:This year I’ll be speaking at the Guelph Organic Conference about the best edible perennials to grow in northern climates.  Perennial vegetables and salad greens provide the key to filling in an edible landscape.  The diversity of edible plants that survive Ontario winters is staggering – diversity being one of the keys to stable\, healthy ecosystems.  Spring shoots of various delectable species pop out of the ground with great exuberance in the spring and give way to fresh\, crunchy leaves and flowers and buds all summer until the tubers and bulbs of winter take shape for the hungry gardener. \nOur talk will focus on 15 of the most under-rated\, productive and delicious perennial edible plants in our gardens.  All of these have potential as cultivated vegetables\, particularly for the high-end culinary markets.  Many of them are cultivated in other parts of the world\, which means they could be considered for cultivated in Canada. \nFor more information\, or to register\, click the link below: \nCultivating Cold-Hardy Perennial Vegetables \n \n  \n
