Hippophae rhamnoides: 10’ high x 12’ wide / full sun to part shade / zone 3
The fruits of this productive Asian shrub are generally cooked and eaten with a sweetener; they’re very tart when raw. They’re one of Nature’s best sources of vitamin C, and also contain carotenoides, vinamin E, amino acids and dietary minerals. They’re used to make pies, jams, lotions, fruit wines and liquors. They are also nitrogen-fixers, and are an excellent multi-purpose plant for the edible landscape.
