Sedum spectabile: 18″ high x 12″ wide / full sun / zone 3
This common ornamental makes an excellent salad green. We eat the leaves from spring until fall in salads and as a nibble in the garden. They’re thickened juicy and have a mild, lemony flavour, and make an excellent addition to a mixed salad. They’re very attractive and low-maintenance plants, and tempt every passing bee with brilliant bronze-coloured flowers in the fall. Sedums make good, clumping ground covers in full sun.
