Chives have been cultivated in China for more than 5000 years. The leaves make an excellent addition to potato dishes, and can be added to salads or soups as a spicy garnish. The flowers are also edible. It will self-seed if you let it, but it’s easy (and tasty) to pull up from unwanted corners of the garden.
