Chinese chestnuts have been cultivated for millennia in China, and are considered by some to have the best-tasting nuts of any chestnut species. They’re resistant to the chestnut blight, and should be more widely grown as a commercial crop in Ontario. Chestnuts have a nutritional profile similar to brown rice, and as such make an excellent perennial staple crop.
