Everybody should grow Rhubarb! You can just chop it into inch-long sections and put it on low in a pot on the stove and it’ll turn into a delicious stew. Add maple syrup or honey, have it with oatmeal or granola, or add an apple and make a crisp! The stalks freeze well, too – just cut them into inch-long sections and put them in a freezer bag for rhubarb all winter. It makes an excellent ground cover and takes care of itself. Make sure everyone knows the leaves are poisonous. We offer the variety ‘Valentine,’ which is a vigorous producer of bright red stalks, and ‘Canada Red,’ which is simply patriotic.
