Pears are the long-lived giants of the fruit tree world. Pears are self-unfruitful (unless otherwise noted), so require another variety nearby for pollination.
Bartlett – (dwarf rootstock): The most highly cultivated pear in Ontario, for good reason; it’s very productive and has delectable flavour. Partially self-fertile.
Doyenne du Commice – (full-sized rootstock): This old French variety is still considered one of the finest for fresh eating. Needs to ripen off the tree for about a month.
Flemish Beauty -(semi-dwarf rootstock): This cold-hardy and productive tree bears sweet, attractive fruit that make this a popular commercial variety. Self-fertile.
