I was delighted to discover that English walnuts (aka persian walnuts) would grow and thrive in our northern climates. These trees, once established, will provide centuries of delicious nuts (the same walnuts you’ll find in the grocery stores), for very little work from the gardener. They take about 10 years before the start to bear, but after that they’ll produce reliable crops for more than a century. Two are needed for cross-pollination.
