Chrysanthemum leucanthemum: 18″ high x 12″ wide / full sun / zone 4
These Eurasian natives have naturalized in Ontario and grow along roadsides and other disturbed areas. The leaves have a very nice, distinctive flavour that’s vaguely carrot-like; we love them in salads and wraps or as a nibble in the garden. The unopened flower buds can be pickled like capers. They’ll self-seed if there’s bare soil nearby.
