Product Description
Pawpaws are Ontario’s largest native fruit, and their tropical flavour makes them a highly sought-after delicacy. The reason they’re not commercially available is that they don’t travel or store well, so the only way to enjoy this wonderful fruit is to grow them at home. They’re the northernmost member of the custard apple family; the trees have a tropical appearance, with huge, droopy leaves redolent of trees from tropical climates. The large fruits ripen in the fall, and can be cut in half to access the sweet pulp. Two trees are needed for cross-pollination.
Please note that our trees are 1-year-old seed-grown trees, and are less than 1 foot tall, so they’ll need some protection for their first few years.
