Cydonia oblonga: 20’ high x 20’ wide / full sun / zone 5b
This cooking fruit was once much more popular and was a standard homesteading producer. The fruit resembles a pear, but needs to be cooked to be enjoyed. They’re incredibly aromatic, and prized in savoury dishes, baking and preserves. Applesauce made with some quince is to die for.
