Amelanchier alnifolia: 8′ high x 6′ wide / full sun to part shade / zone 2
This is another excellent low-maintenance berry producer, native to the cold Saskatewan prairie. It thrives in poor soils, and produces masses of blue berries which are good for fresh eating as well as preserves. Very low-maintenance and pretty, too, with beautiful white flowers in early spring and red fall foliage.
