Not only is this species perennial, it’s also won numerous accolades for its spicy flavour from chefs all over the world. The pungent leaves are used primarily as a spicy addition to salads, or anyplace regular arugula would be used. The pretty yellow flowers have the same flavour as the leaves, and make a wonderful edible garnish. It may self-seed if there’s bare soil nearby, but it’s a pleasure to control its spread, as the seedlings are delicious, too.
