Melissa officinalis: 2-3’ high x 15” wide / full sun to part shade / zone 4
This clumping, European herb makes a good ground cover. We eat the spring leaves in salads, and dry them anytime as a tea leaf. It is also a mineral accumulator and nectary plant. It self-seeds and spreads slowly by rhizomes, but it doesn’t spread vigorously so we welcome it in our garden.
