Mentha x piperita piperita: 1-2’ high x indefinitely spreading / full sun to part shade / zone 4
This is, admittedly, a bit of a novelty plant; but a nicer-smelling novelty is hard to imagine. A peppermint hybrid, it really does smell and taste like minty chocolate. Used in teas and salads, this Eurasian native makes a good ground-cover, bee plant and shelter for beneficial insects. It’s the best-tasting mint we’ve sampled.
