This close relative of mitsuba is one of our most delectable native vegetables. The young, lightly cooked greens make a delicious side dish or addition to soup. It needs some shade, and can be found in lowland hardwood forests, so it prefers rich alluvial soil but can tolerate a wide range of garden soils.
