Asparagus officinale – 3-5ʼ high x slowly spreading / full sun / zone 4
Most people love asparagus, so why donʼt most people grow it? This is one of the easiest perennial vegetables to cultivate, and the benchmark by which others are judged. It takes an average of three years before the first harvest is ready, but after that it will bear without much effort for twenty years or more. Grows best with a heavy mulch. Native to Europe. We offer ‘Mary Washington,’ which is an open-pollinated variety that yields well and is more resistant to diseases than hybrid asparagus.
