These are among the hardiest of fruit trees; they’re a result of a breeding program at the University of Saskatewan aiming to create cherries that would bear reliably in the Canadian prairies. The flavour is somewhere between sweet and sour cherries; they have an intense flavour, good for fresh eating if you like a little pucker with your sweet tooth. Also great for pies and preserves. They’re also a very attractive ornamental shrub, with a brilliant display of flowers in early spring.
